Speaker Spotlight - Sean Freeman

We are thrilled to have Dr. Sean Freeman as a featured speaker on our Careers in Meteorology Panel at the upcoming Rocket City Weather Festival! Dr. Freeman is an Assistant Professor in Atmospheric and Earth Science at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and the Principal Investigator of the Cloud And Storm Processes Research Lab (CASPR Lab). His extensive experience in both academia and research makes him an invaluable addition to our panel, where he will be offering insights into the field of meteorology from a research and educational perspective.

Dr. Freeman specializes in studying clouds and storms, particularly their interactions with the environment. Through his work at the CASPR Lab, he uses a variety of tools, including numerical weather models, cloud tracking software, and small drones, to explore the development, maturation, and dissipation of these atmospheric phenomena. His research helps deepen our understanding of weather patterns and improves predictive models, which are vital for both weather forecasting and climate study.


In addition to his research, Dr. Freeman is an educator who teaches courses in atmospheric processes and dynamics.
